In what looks to be the biggest deal of the year, Disney is in talks with George Lucas to acquire LucasFilm to the tune of $4 billion dollars. This is about what they paid for Marvel back in 2009 (and then we got The Avengers!!).
Lucas says, “It’s now time for me to pass ‘Star Wars’ on to a new generation of filmmakers”. Robert Iger, CEO of Disney has this to say, “This transaction combines a world-class portfolio of content including Star Wars, one of the greatest family entertainment franchises of all time, with Disney’s unique and unparalleled creativity.”
Can’t wait to see what we get out of this deal in respects to movies! Let’s just hope it’s not more changes to the original Star Wars (again)!
