To try and figure out, I’ve gone back and watched previous episodes. I’ve watched Eccleston and Tennant episodes along with Smith episodes. Guess What? Still love them! In fact, I came to the stunning revelation that the Smith Era may very well be my favorite so far and that The Ponds are my favorite companions. (I still love you, Rose!) So I’m definitely not over Doctor Who. Last night after watching the latest episode, The Crimson Horror, I even went back and watched Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, an episode from the first half of this season. Turns out that may be one of my favorite episodes EVER. So what is it?

Do I dislike Clara as a companion? Looking back, no I don’t. I like her just fine. She has an interesting story that I’m hoping to see explored more. She stands up to the Doctor like a good companion should, but she always knows when to follow the Doctor’s lead as well. Is Smith just not cutting it anymore? I think he still is. He still manages to make me laugh and when it comes time to be serious, I still get shivers from when he gets all riled up. At the end of Crimson Horror we caught a glimpse of next weeks episode, Nightmare in Silver, which is written by Neil Gaiman. The Doctor, Clara and the children she Nanny’s for travel to the World of Wonders, which was once the greatest theme park in the Universe only to discover one of the return of the Cybermen! This is the first episode I am really psyched for! I’m a big fan of Neil Gaiman’s novels and cannot wait to see this one! Can it make up for what has kind of been a “bleh” return of season seven? I hope so!

For die hard Power Rangers fans, this fan film trailer isn’t new. The video popped up several months ago and has steadily made it’s rounds on the internet. It was a few weeks back that I saw it however and I have to say, I’m a bit excited by the idea. The story is that Lord Zedd has been defeated, the Power Rangers have vanished and Tommy Oliver has gone into hiding, waiting for evil to find him again. Set 20 years after their final battle with Zedd, the Lord of Darkness has returned with a mind for revenge!

As fans of the series, one of the biggest complaints I see on twitter and Facebook is that the series never grew up with it’s original fans. It’s still a light hearted, children’s action show that we all remember, but could it be more? The filmmakers are looking to take an almost Christopher Nolan like approach to the series as they look to make a more Mature version of the Power Rangers. An ambitious project for sure, the producers have started a Kickstarter fund that you can back by clicking here and pledging money to back the group!

A few weeks ago I took the first step towards putting my health into my own hands when I ordered DDPYoga. First off, yes I do shop by novelty so I’ll be honest that having retired pro wrestler Diamond Dallas Page teaching you was one reason behind me getting it but it wasn’t the only reason. I did my research into a lot of different programs, I talked to my friends who were doing their own at home workout programs and decided that DDPYoga really was what was best for me. I was pretty overwhelmed when it arrived at how much information the program guide has for you. From a set schedule for working out to meal plan ideas, it covers more than just the moves of the work out itself. The great thing is that DDP encourages you to make the work out your own, showing you ways to modify the program based on your abilities.

On top of all of that, DDP is a great motivator. I find myself cursing at DDP on the TV when he pushes me, but I do it anyway because when you finish you really do feel better about completing it. I thought it was something only I did, maybe I was weird for cursing at the TV until I did the Energy work out with my friend Sara and heard her say “Fuck you” when DDP pushed us! “Make it your own” is a common phrase to hear from during the work outs or to modify it if you have to. With a program that lets you cater to your own abilities but still pushing you at the same time, how can you say no? Own your life with DDPYoga and be ready to yell BANG!!

I have to be honest, that for about a week and a half I fell off the program and didn’t do it once. The great thing about DDPYoga? If you fall off the program you just get right back on. It can happen to anyone. After a few weeks of doing the basic Diamond Dozen and Energy workouts, I finally moved on the the Fat Burner. I had these two for beginners down, how much of a challenge could the Fat Burner workout be, really? Well, it’s been such a challenge it’s the first time I’ve had to stop for a longer breather than what the DVD calls for. Through out the different workouts you always take a short break for water, a towel and to just breath, with the Fat Burner program I actually had to pause the DVD and wait longer for my heart rate to get back down. Well, Fat Burner, you showed me. Challenge accepted!

Overall, since I’ve started I have dropped a few pounds but nothing too drastic. I completely admit again that I just started eating better recently as well, so I KNOW that affected how much weight I was losing. The biggest thing I’ve seen is my flexibility and my back. When I was 22 I hurt my back at work and have chronic back pain ever since (I’m 26 now!) After starting DDPYoga, everything is sore the next day EXCEPT my back! My wife watched last night and even told me she could see how much more flexible I was becoming and by the end of my workout last night I really felt more flexible.

Any of you reading may or may not know, my sister and I do a podcast on Being Human every week, and occasionally we get some emails regarding the show.  This week, we got one such email, and we had such a good time reading it and were also very happy with the way he recapped and reviewed the episode, that I’m going to use it in to for my own review this week.  I don’t necessarily agree with all his points, but I can see their validation. Anyway, enjoy Mr. Justin’s (aka El Presidente Chili) fine words on the season finale of Being Human.

Screw the keg. Pick us up some crack.

So much happened in this season finale of Being Human! Where do I start? I guess from the top is a good place. At the end of last episode when I saw Liam’s wonky eye at first, I laughed. But this time around Liam brought the crazy pretty hard. Locking Nora and Josh in that cage match with the vampire mutants? That wasn’t cool at all. But at least Josh was able to throw a quick vamparbecue. I have a feeling Liam planted the gasoline there on purpose. Liam should have at least bought Josh the rice cooker he wanted for their wedding. After all, Liam was very creepily trying to replace his deceased family with Josh and Nora. Get your own pack, guy. Josh and Nora already have one. Plus there’s the whole kidnapping them, and forcing them to dispose of vamperewolves in a dirty warehouse thing. Nora, wrongly I think, decided this was a good time to reveal that she was the one who killed Brynn. Nora, you were like a watch that was put together by penguins in Antarctica, you had REALLY bad timing.

The Wrong Stuff.

When they first showed Kenny, I thought he looked less terrifying and more like a disheveled Andy Warhol. It was amusing. But when they showed the close-ups of his eyes I was like “Where have I seen those eyes before?”. Then it hit me! I’ve seen the same eyes on Hayden Christensen, hack actor, when he portrayed Anakin Skywalker in the conclusion of the prequels. He had the same kind of crazy eyes Kenny had, and the two are equal to each other in violence. Of course Kat was still in the house, asleep, and when she awoke she had the natural human inclination to do a wee really bad. Unfortunately she stumbled on leatherette Sally, and it killed the happy-wappy timey-wimey goodness of the occasion they’d been celebrating. Needless to say, she wasn’t very understanding of the circumstances. But how could she be? It made Aidan look sort of Jeffrey Dahmer-ish. Yeah…

Not exactly Sith eyes, but scary. And disturbing.

So then Aidan’s just sitting at the kitchen table, chillin, and he was definitely having a chat with Sally. Suddenly there was a knock at the temple on the side of Aidan’s head and it turned out to be a bullet that wanted to come inside. Aidan took it in the head much the same way that Axel did in “The Walking Dead”. Turns out that Liam tried to pull a John Wilkes Booth on Aidan. But he knew it wouldn’t kill him. He kept shooting Aidan just to be a dick I think. He wanted Kenny, and he found him chillin in Aidan’s dank basement wonderland. Liam was outnumbered. But he was still kicking everybody’s ass. Josh and Nora arrive in their amazing Subaru just in time for the ass beating of the season. They both got it bad. But Aidan got it worse when he got impaled on the shovel handle. Luckily Aidan realized he could thank Liam for impaling him by giving him a bro-hug, and that was the end of Liam. But Kenny Skywalker was munching on unconscious Nora, and that’s not allowed. Josh defended his lady from kookoo Kenny, so that was good. During the fight Sally made Liam drop his weapon by setting it on fire. Yay ghost powers! I wonder if Sally was a little pyro when she was growing up? Dun dun duuuun….

You got something on your…nevermind.

Aidan goes to the red-haired vampire girl who he hates, and he asks her for a favor. He wants her to make Kat forget she saw Sally’s jerky-fied body. She agrees and they go. But when red-haired vampire lady goes in Aidan follows her too quickly, and it gets kind of struggly after that. Aidan should have waited a minute or two. But love impairs judgment at times, and he made a booboo. But it was quickly fixed when red haired girls compelling story worked perfectly on Kat. She was like one of those neurolizers from “Men In Black”. Totally made Kat forget what happened. Aidan was grateful. But unfortunately now he owes red-haired vamp a favor. Hopefully she’ll just want him to get her a meatball sub and a bag of Fritos.

Don’t forget the coffee.

Aidan said he’d take care of Kenny for what he did to Nora. But then he had a flashback to the fate met by his wife. He was in the forest with his son, and told him to wait there. By now the colonials think Aidan is a demon and his wife is a witch. So they do what comes natural. They tied her to a chair and threw the chair in a river. But they also tied ropes to the chair in order to make it sort of like an 18th century version of waterboarding. They wanted her to confess to being a practitioner of witchcraft. But she wouldn’t confess, and pastor jerkass and the townspeople let her drown in the river. Aidan arrives from the forest just in time to see her body slip beneath the surface, almost like when Leo sank at the end of Titanic. Seeing this, Aidan becomes very upset. To make matters worse, the colonists don’t really know a lot about dealing with demons. They think Aidan is a demon, so they do the only logical thing they can think of: They gave him a Boston beatdown. But c’mon guys, did you really expect THAT to work? Aidan kills a bunch of the guys out of super-vamp rage including pastor douchey. Then he lets out a Hulk roar. Badass. Unfortunately Aidan’s son saw his dad getting his ass kicked as well, and Aidan told him to flee. This memory clouds Aidan’s judgment. By now he has led Kenny to the forest, and Kenny knows what the deal is. He’s not a stupid vampire-mutant-boy. Aidan is about to end Kenny’s miserable and short life. But then he remembers that day at the river when his wife drowned, and his son had to flee, and he feels sorry for Kenny. He can’t kill his own blood, because he has already lost so much. But he stupidly and wrongly lets Kenny go. Which is sort of like releasing an adult tiger in Central Park.

Not your average Vampire-Mutant Boy.

Sally is happy to be a ghost again. She speaks to Aidan about what it’s like to be alone. Their conversation concludes with Sally and Aidan sharing an intimate moment, almost hinting at some kind of romantic feeling. But the mood is killed when she asks about Kat, smothering the flame of love that was (possibly?) burning within her for Aidan. But she doesn’t realize that the fires that have been happening around the house are not her doing. In fact, Donna is a bit of a pyro. Sally tries to get rid of her, and she can’t ’cause Donna has the sickest cheat codes around. Donna mentions that something bad happens when the spot where a person died is destroyed, and she tells Sally she likes her before shoving her down the stairs. A bit of a mixed message. She lands much the way she did when first she fell down those stairs. But then the floor magically crumbled beneath her, and Donna embraced her as she pulled her downward to hell, or maybe into the green line of the T. Will we find out which? The floor went back the way it was. But I don’t think it will take long for the rest of the housemates to realize Sally didn’t go out for milk and bread. Donna’s unnatural super powers make me think she’s more than just a witch. She could be the devil herself. The original deal Sally made with Donna certainly had that air about it.

Where do you think you’re going?

Josh and Nora are relieved to finally be rid of Liam. But Nora questions Josh’s willingness to do what it necessary to kill Liam in the first place. After all, it was Aidan who ended the beastly man. She seems to be wondering if Josh wanted to remain a wolf so he and her could have more in common. I don’t think that’s true. Josh told Ray in the preceding episode that being a murderer is not a status he wanted to have. That is why he just wanted Liam to leave him and Nora alone. What Nora mistakes for weakness is Josh trying to hang on to some morsel of humanity, even if it’s a small one. The bottom line is Liam’s gone, so why make a big deal of it? Josh and Nora make their way to the woods for the change. But Liam told them things would be different for Josh, and he never got the chance to explain how because he wound up on an Aidan-Liam kabob (Credit to Matt Sheeler for that one. I found it clever.). Nora comes back from the change just fine. But Josh is at least part pure blood now, and the transformation didn’t go the same for him to say the least.

Ruh Roh.

We end this season with Aidan strolling down the street in slow motion like a Hollywood badass, and he passes a cab (which looked NOTHING like the cabs in Boston, by the way). As he keeps on walking, a woman steps out of the cab. The woman is identical to his deceased wife Susanna. Whoooooa!

I’ve seen her before…

So many questions…. Did Donna drag Sally to hell? When does Josh turn human again, and what if any are the additional effects of pure werewolf blood? Did he kill Nora in the forest? Where does Aidan’s relationship with neurolized Kat go from here? What the hell happens to Kenny? Perhaps most importantly, was Aidan’s wife a witch like the colonials thought in the first place? These are questions that only a season four could answer.

A monster is born.

But will we get it? I hope we will get a season four, because as it stands this finale is just a weird place to leave things. It doesn’t sit right with me. With so many unanswered questions, it’s obvious they left the door open for more stories and at least one more season. Syfy owes it to us, the loyal fans, to resolve most if not all of these issues with a fourth season. They’ve given themselves a road map to what could be a very thrilling fourth season of “Being Human”, and I hope that they will use that road map properly. It’s the right thing to do.

To let “Being Human” end with tonight’s episode would be unjust. In television you cannot bring up questions like these rhetorically. There has to be closure, and if there is no fourth season it will be, in a word, a tragedy.

The upcoming Game Informer shows off not only Batman swinging into action but one of 8 assassins, Deathstroke!

After long months of speculation and rumor it has finally been announced that the latest installment of the Arkham franchise is named Arkham Origins and will be released on October25 this year. Arkham Origins will be set several years before the previous games as many of us thought but it will not be the “Silver Age” look that was rumored. The story is that it’s Christmas Eve in Gotham and 8 of the World’s Deadliest Assassins have come to kill Batman. One of the assassins is already revealed to be none other than Deathstroke The Terminator himself! In the video below from Game Informer they mention this won’t be a Batman Origin but more how he is introduced to several characters who are very important to him? Am I the only one thinking Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl and yes…maybe even the Joker??

WB Games Montreal has taken over production of the franchise from Rocksteady game who made the original two installments. This isn’t the only big change in production that the series has seen as writer Paul Dini stated he didn’t plan to return for the next game and Mark Hamill announcing (again) that he was done playing the Joker. Hamill has said this before so I wouldn’t be surprised if he returned to the role, but with production this far along already on the game I can only assume that Dini is in fact done.

This week was the season finale of Being Human. Oh wait, no. There’s one more episode. But this week sure did FEEL like a season finale!  Many of the themes and conversations from the season came back around and completed their journey, character plots found closure, and they had a wedding for Pete’s sake! (aww Pete…)  They still left a few loose ends to get tied up next week, however.  Kenny and his new found state of not pretty, Liam the cyclops crashing the honeymoon, and Firestarter staring Sally Malik all need dealing with this coming Monday.

Did I do that?

This past episode, however, Always a Bridesmaid, Never Alive, told a beautiful and amazing story in and of itself. In fact, while tweeting during the episode, I couldn’t help but notice I used the word “perfect” quite a bit. So this week I give you: Five Perfect Moments in Being Human 3.12.

1. Clothing Montage

I can deal with these clothes for another few seasons…

Sally knows she’s going to die and become a ghost, so rather than find herself for all eternity in her PJs, Nora went on a shopping spree to find Sally the perfect death outfit. Its sound ridiculous to read – this actually  happened in this so-called perfect scene? Yes, yes it is. If ANYONE deserves a clothing montage, its definitely Sally.  Her wardrobe practically became a side character on the show!  Finding a new outfit for Ghost Sally owned great importancet, a new character journey awaits her and a new outfit will accompany it. Not to mention that it was a perfect character bonding moment for our two female leads. I couldn’t help but smile.  Also, the outfit was quite cute. I love her boots.

2. Death Bed Scene

Make an impassioned speech!

Writing and performing the scene in which Sally dies had to have been severely problematic. You’d want to make a good moment of it, because, well… Sallys death. At the same time, we MET Sally as a ghost, and she’s simply returning to the way we first fell in love with her (to steal words from Aidan). The way they chose to show this scene was perfect.  It had a sad overtone to the scene, with touching words from each roommate, but they also added in light, humorous moments to keep the scene from going into depressing territory. Sally’s continuing smile and the single tear in her eye made us feel joyful for what we got with Sally this season, and made us feel a little better about her becoming a ghost once more.

3. Door Antics

Wolf seems angry…

Upon entering the evil shell door, Aidan and Josh are transported to a very different destination than they expected. While it’s unclear as to WHY that happened – if it was intentional or just a side effect to something corporeal going through the portal. But the fun part about surrounding their surprising teleport came in what they each found. Josh’s wolf confronted him, quite angry, and Aidan met with his son, Issac (looking a bit on the fugly side).

This is what nightmares are made of.

While it didn’t last long, each character was faced with an issue that has existed, if not all season, definitely in the past few episodes, and certainly something they’re not done dealing with yet. It brought surprise for the scene, and also served as a ominous reminder of what’s still coming.

4. The Demise of Donna

Seems like this could be a problem…

The final fight with Donna was fun and exciting, but what made it so much so was the element of surprise. We kept getting new information as the scene went on, and we were never quite sure what was going to happen next. They brought Sally’s heart with them as a weapon, and we felt excited when Aidan had that punctuation line before throwing it in the fire. We cackled with delight as Donna caught on fire, then gasped as she threw the fire at Sally, slashed her at ate her ghost flakes. Before we could recover, jaws dropped as light burst forth from Donna’s chest! They kept the ride ever changing for us, and ended it perfectly with Aidan shouting, “WE WON!”  As an added bonus, the events that occurred while fighting Donna seem to have created a new supernatural world for Sally that seems quite intriguing.

5. The Wedding

Pass me the Kleenex, please…

Best. TV. Wedding. Ever.  The ceremony was small and forced to proceed by Emily, the groom couldn’t see all in attendance, and Nora didn’t prepare vows and kissed her husband at the wrong time.  It was a hot mess, but beautiful nonetheless.  Nora looked gorgeous and so happy, and Josh’s vows to Nora came directly from the heart.  Normally, weddings do not get me.  But this one seemed to represent basic love for one another – stripped down to the basics of what a wedding is all about. It was wrong in so many ways that it became perfectly right.  Aidan had it right when he said this moment for them, as monster roommates striving to be human, proved that they were doing things right.  And it was perfect.

One episode left? Bring it.

Actors David Tennant and Billie Piper are set to return to the set of Doctor Who. The news spread quickly over the internet the same day that Doctor Who was set to return for the second half of it’s current season. Tennant played the 10th incarnation of the Doctor and Piper played Rose Tyler, the Doctor’s companion for the first and second seasons of the rebooted series. Though Piper left the series earlier, she had a cameo appearance on the show during Tennant’s final episode The End of Time.

Also the news came out that actor John Hurt would be part of the 50th anniversary special, which starts filming later this week, but in what capacity has yet to be announced.

One question I’ve noticed on twitter though, is will Tennant be playing “10″ again? We also saw in Piper’s final “regular” appearnce episode Doomsday that there is a Tennant looking human clone of the Doctor that was left on an alternate Earth with Rose and Jackie. Could this be Tennants way in as opposed to seeing him come back at 10? Time will tell!

DIsneyland should be on Kenny’s bucket list.

Sam Witwer and Connor Price show an amazing chemistry together this week. Aidan really seems as though he’s taken on another son, and Kenny’s enthusiasm and excitement for life is incredibly contagious. I couldn’t help but smile while Kenny played with some random dog in the park while Aidan laughed at him.

Aidan made a promise to bubble boy Kenny, and this week he delivers. Kenny will become a Lord of the Night. Although Aidan took the time to warn Kenny about the down side of vampirism, Kenny’s wish to live a life where he doesn’t have to fear dying of causes that normal people don’t worry over seems to have outweighed said warnings. Until he watched a Vampire die. If his sudden tentativeness wasn’t enough to start your spider sense tingling, the shot of the ship in the bottle DEFINITELY did.  “Hey audience, remember Bernie?”

What Shall we do With the Drunken Vampire

The show doesn’t wait to present the new problem. Apparently Professor Pervert Jeff didn’t die at all last week, he was turned into an ugly…vampire-ish being who’s very hungry.

THE VAMPIRE QUESTIONS
*What happened with Jeff that made him turn into whatever he is?
*We only saw the aftermath of Jeff’s death – did Aidan even kill Jeff?
*Is the wolf’s blood doing this? Are there side effects no one expected?
*Is this Kenny’s fate? Will we see Aidan have to end another young Vampires life?

I’m not PADLOCKING you in your room!

Since re-becoming a wolf, Josh’s story hasn’t had a clear story progression except for self-examination, which has been  interesting to watch from a Josh standpoint. This week, however, Josh’s sister Emily learns the truth about the supernatural, and that her brother is counted among them. She doesn’t take it well.

The conversation between Alison Louder and Sammy Huntington was acted brilliantly, with very raw emotions. However, it DID feel as though Josh as a character was taking three step backwards into how he used to feel about his wolf when Emily slung her accusations about the actions of a monster, only to get back on track in the next scene talking to Aidan. Both scenes were amazingly acted, and I loved the realization that Josh has about how the monster doesn’t have to define you or ruin you, but felt a bit out of place in the grand scheme of things.

Not so understanding….

*Will Josh ever meet his inner wolf and make real peace?
*Will Emily blab to her family about how their son really IS a werewolf?

Best and Worst break up ever.

Sally’s feeling the end of things, and does the right thing (finally) and goes to tell Max they’re through, though not before a very touching scene wherein they say they loved each other, and Sally admits that Max is the guy she thought she deserved when she was truly alive. This scene hits the perfect notes of romance without becoming too “get a room-ish,” and although the season didn’t get as deep as I’d have liked into Sally and Max’s relationship, I completely buy into their feelings for each other.  It could have easily beenanother Aidan/Suren “that’s only lust” debacle, but instead the chemistry was right, and it became a very sad, and touching scene.

*How is Sally supposed to be ready for the witch when she goes through the shell door?

*Will eating a vampire have some sort of affect in the future?

TEAM NORA

Poor Nora has had some opposition this season, to put it nicely. Though she already made her comeback, this week she melted hearts with her kind, selfless nature. She moved plans for her wedding simply so Sally can be in attendance. She has a “behind the door” bachelorette party with Sally, just to have that time with her before the end. Nora actually voices the theme of the entire series when she wants to make sure the people in her life that matter, that know her, that are going through the same things she is – her monster family – is in attendance when she weds Josh. Kristen Hager’s scenes with all of the monsters this week were all touchingand adorable.

SHE-WOLF QUESTIONS
*Is Nora going to die?
