Get ready to say Cowabunga in 2012!

If you’ve been living under a rock the past few weeks, the Turtle fans will be pleased to know that Nickelodeon recently acquired the worldwide rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and in 2012 will both produce a brand new animated series as well as a reboot of the movie series (as opposed to a sequel like the previous films.) The new cartoon will be completely CGI and as of now will consist of 26 half hour episodes due to premiere in the Summer next year! Voices for the Turtles have been announced by voice actor Rob Paulsen, who previously played Raphael in the 80’s cartoon and will play Donatello in the new series. Jason Biggs (Of American Pie fame) will play Leonardo, Sean Astin (Goonies, Lord of the Rings Trilogy) will play Raphael, and Greg Cipes (Beast Boy on Teen Titans) will be Michelangelo. Voice recording is currently underway with Rob Paulsen providing updates on his podcast “Talkin’ Toons!” Along with the cartoon a reboot of the film franchise was also announced, though little else is known other than Paramount and Nickelodeon working on the film together with Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes taking the reigns! Keep an eye and ear out for more turtle news as it develops!
