It seems like every film these days comes out in 3D, so it was a little surprising that GI Joe wasn’t shot in or already planned to be converted to 3D. Most big box office action films take that into account lately, and just over a month before it was set to be released studio execs have decided to push back the release of GI Joe Retaliation to March 2013 so that they can convert the film to 3D for a “bigger overseas box office.” Thats right, as if most fans weren’t irked enough by the sequel to an already lackluster opening film, they now have to wait until next year for it.
Toys and merchandise are already out in stores as well as you can see by walking past any toy section in a Target or WalMart so while they may get a bigger box office over seas, are they risking losing the attention of the kids that are already waiting? Kids, as always, are one of the prime target audiences for the film so we’ll see if in a year the kids that made their parents pay for the toys are still interested in the film. GI Joe Retaliation stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Bruce Willis, Arnold Vosloo, Ray Park, and Channing Tatum.
