Tonight is Friday Night Smackdown so things may change last minute, but as of right now we’re gonna go through the matches and throw out our predictions for this Sunday’s SUMMERSLAM!!
PRE-SHOW: SANTINO MARELLA vs ANTONIO CESARO
Honestly, if I even catch this one I’ll be hoping for a Santino Marella win. I just like the guy and really I don’t know much about Antonio Cesaro. But Cesaro seems to be getting a push lately so again, it wouldn’t surprise me if he pulls out the win. Santino can take a good loss at this point and continue to be a draw. So, unfortuantely, I’m going with…
WINNER: ANTONIO CESARO
WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS
KOFI KINGSTON & R-TRUTH vs THE PRIME TIME PLAYERS
The Players are getting quite the push lately but the fans are behind Kofi and Truth. Since the Tag Belts really don’t mean much in the WWE other than giving certain guys something to do, I see Kofi and Truth keeping the straps and pulling out a Summerslam win!
WINNERS: KOFI KINGSTON & R-TRUTH
THE MIZ vs REY MYSTERIO
I hope Rey beats the bijesus out of The Miz and 619’s him back into the Real World. I hate the Miz. I hate the Miz. I hate the Miz.
WINNER: REY MYSTERIO
KANE vs DANIEL BRYAN
This is going to be an interesting match up. Both Kane and Bryan have proved over time that they can put on great matches with anyone, any size, any style of competition. I’m really looking forward to seeing these two go at it and put on what I think will be one hell of a match. Personally? Either guy winning will be happy as long as the WWE writers don’t give them a crap ending to the match. So this is a tough pick…
Why Kane? Because right now a loss will go along with Daniel Bryan’s character and I think if the WWE isn’t burying him, this is just a build up to a new storyline. Kane winning just seems to make more sense right now.
CHRIS JERICHO vs DOLPH ZIGGLER
2012 is supposed to be the Year of Ziggler. Dolph has really gone from being a guy with a crap gimmick to one of the companies top heels. Jericho over the past few years has gone from being THE Main Eventer to THE Main Eventer who’s only around to help the “younger” guy get over. Which isn’t a bad thing. A win for Dolph over Y2J will give Dolph more credibility going into a main event match with whoever the champion will be that he faces with his Money in the Bank match. So I’m calling it.
WINNER: DOLPH ZIGGLER
CM PUNK vs BIG SHOW vs JOHN CENA
We touched on this match in our first podcast, but I’ll repeat for those of you that didn’t listen yet. Big Show has essentially become a filler role. He’s a big guy who can destroy his competition and pose a real threat, without losing face in a loss. Cena doesn’t need the belt right now. Basically, I see CM Punk winning this match and then LOSING to the Rock at Royal Rumble, Cena wins the Rumble and goes to Wrestlemania to face the Rock for Cena/Rock II for the WWE Championship. But for Summerslam?
WINNER: CM PUNK
“THE PERFECT STORM”
BROCK LESNAR vs TRIPLE H
We also touched on this one in the podcast, this match could either be REALLY good or REALLY bad. Triple H can usually put on a good match with anyone, but after seeing Lesnar/Cena at Extreme Rules, I’m not sure if LESNAR can put on a good match with anyone anymore. If he really is just gonna be a brawler/fighter in this “Anything Goes” match, this could just be a rehash of the Extreme Rules match and be a complete bust. I’ve gone from being really excited about Lesnar’s return, to really not caring and wishing he’d go away.
WINNER: I’m not sure. No one gains anything from winning this. I’m actually predicting a draw with them knocking each other out or something.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
SHEAMUS vs ALBERTO DEL RIO
I’m not big on Sheamus. He’s not that entertaining to me where as Alberto is an awesome entertainer and wrestler. I really hope to see him pull out a win and a better title reign for him.
WINNER: ALBERTO DEL RIO
