We’ve known for quite awhile that the X-Men First Class cast had multi-movie deals, but after original director Matthew Vaughn dropped off the project it was the original “X-Men” and “X2” director Brian Singer who stepped up to fill that role. News soon began to fill Singer’s twitter account as they went location scouting and more for “Days of Future Past;” a title taken from a beloved 80’s storyline that heavily featured time travel. News broke a few days ago, seemingly confirming the time travel aspect, that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan will be returning to the series to reprise their roles of Charles Xavier/Professor X and Magneto along with First Class stars James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.
However, it didn’t take long for more casting news to break that apparently they are also trying to snag Hugh Jackman to return to his role as Wolverine for the film. Jackman just wrapped another X-Film simply entitled “The Wolverine”, so he’s already in shape to play the marauding mutant. Rumors were also that Famke Janssen was on set of “The Wolverine” potentially shooting a Jean Grey cameo, but we’ll have to wait and see on that one.
With Time Travel involved, will “Days of Future Past” be a way to reboot the X-Men franchise without having to recast the roles? Fans have always enjoyed the casting choices for the films, but it seems to be the storylines that have always bothered fans of the film franchise. We’ll keep you updated with all your X-Men movie news, so stay tuned!
